As you watch the remixed video I have edited, it shows the theme SUCCESS. From start to complete this video cost me about 3 days.
1. Search & collect material and script draft
First of all, I collected video clips from videoblocks.com for several hours. I just wrote some key words I may put in my video, then search and select what I want. I registered 7 days free agreement to download these footages. Interesting, I also grab some other footages that I can relative to my draft script. My draft simple script is: Fail–> Plan–> Practicing & Trying–>Become success. This is not a really story, but I need remix all the footage, music and sound together. The main storytelling line is playing basketball and climb the mountain. Also, I asked my friend Ziya Gan, who is a student studying animation in RMIT, to give me her animation design by herself I watched before. The animation is short but take her a long time to study and finish it, so I get this idea “Roma was not built in a day” as a complementary content in my video. In addition, I selected and downloaded some music and sound form freestockmusic.com and freesound.org to support my remix video.
2. Remix and edit
Editing is a complex part for me. I learnt some easy edit manners from the course “Industrial Media”, so I can cut and remix these footage with scene transfer, adjust their color grading, interspersed still photos, put background musics and sounds, add text with motion. I wrote a timeline of everything’s sequence first, and adjust them many times when I editing. This is fun but cost too much time as I’m not professional. I did footage remix first then add background music. I found that the clips should suitable for background music sometimes, so I should adjust some movement to find and fit the rhythm. Furthermore, finding a suitable background music also costs of time, I should select and cut a part of music first and estimate its length of the time. Then remix it suitable with clips.
Footages
I noticed that some of the footage are very different on color style, so I adjust their color grading. Additional, adjust clips brightness is a good way to implement switch of clips with each other and some mix effect for two or more clips.

I used Photoshop to edit some of my photos, because they have some exposure problems. I show the Before & After of editing photos below:

I only chose Photo 01, 03 & 05 to remix my video, because Photo 02 & 04 seems like excess for this storytelling. I was not using our single shot video and my audio as the same reason, they are talk about teamwork success and arrive on time success.
Background music and sound
I used three background music clips to remind storytelling line. As first part of background music has its own turning, so I merger ‘fail’ and ‘make a plan’ these two points with same background music. As the clip of video is a basketball player tying his shoelaces after two points, I put a sound of practice basketball and shot the hoop as a connection. Sprightly background music as the main turning of storytelling. Just right, a small turning of the music fit on the climbing scene. As the second background music clips close to the end, I add a sound seems like successful bell to connect next clips of music. The third background music turning up fit the man who raises his arms in the video. As the music’s style is a little slower, I adjust some footage clips speed here slowly to fit the background music.
I really like the sound of basketball drop on the ground after failed shot. And I put it on the two frustrated men clips, thus seems like they were watching the process of their team member failed. I used sound from my second assessment record but not post it (sound of writing). And it is in a low voice, so I increase its output db and decrease the background music acoustics. In addition, the sound of acclamation & voice of ‘goal’ which happened when the basketball through in the hoop is too loud, so I adjusted them in a low voice.
Texts
Because of this is a remix video, texts are used for boosting the storytelling. In addition, final subtitle texts are use for telling all the sources from, the theme of this video, who edit it and thanks message.
Well, some of the texts for storytelling not very satisfied for me I think. I can’t edit more motion as my skills of editing texts by Adobe Premiere has limited. I should learn more in the future.
